J2: The Deception
As Jade got ready to go to Melvin World the next day after returning from a hellish 'vacation' on a Mars space station and trapped in Hell, she really was appreciating Earth life again. No way would she take anything for granted again.
She got up early and went to take a shower after a quick breakfast. While she was taking a brush out of her dresser, she noticed something move in the special star-shaped mirror hanging above it. Before she could turn around, heavy bandaged hands covered her eyes.
"Guess who!" said a playful familiar voice.
Jade pulled his hands away from her face and turned around to face him. "Drago! What are you doing here?" she asked, angry that he startled her.
"What? Here to see you. I was thinking about you all day yesterday, but I figured I'd leave you alone. You did look pretty tired after running around Hell and Mars' moons for almost a week. Was that nice of me to leave you alone for once? Ha!" he said, smiling while looking her over.
Jade could tell he was in a frisky mood, something she found very charming about him. For a vicious ill-tempered rude jerk, he was very cute when he was playful and silly.
Jade gave a nervous smile. "Yeah, I'm actually amazed by that. Though I think the real reason why you didn't come around earlier is because of your hands, er, claws. Uncle says bad magic can't touch good magic, so how could you stand holding your mom's sword like that?" she asked, hoping she could get him to go away before Jim came to pick her up to go to Melvin World. There was no way she could ask Drago to come along, for obvious reasons.
"Want to see the wounds? They're gruesome! Here, look!" he cried, ignoring her question about the bad chi not being able to touch good chi thing. He took off the gauze off his left claw.
Jade was actually interested in seeing his wounds, she liked to look at gross stuff, especially gooey injuries. Drago took it as an opportunity to show off how tough he was.
Jade took in air sharply at the sight of his claw mutilations. The underside of his claw looked like acid got to it. It was gruesome and awesome all at the same time. "Wow!" she breathed, taking his claw into her hands to inspect it further.
"It looks like fried dried meat! Hey, I can actually see your bones in there, that's so sick! Awesome!" Jade gasped, flexing his claw to see the seared muscles move away to reveal white calcium. Drago felt proud that he could take on such injuries and be up and walking about no problem.
"Yeah, I know." he said, grinning. He pulled his claw free and tried to press the grossness of it into Jade's face. She dodged away, laughing.
"Stop it, you jerk! Yuck, don't go pushing that into my face! Sheesh!" she cried, taking a mocking fighting stance. He advanced to her with his exposed claw, using it as a weapon.
"Bow to the claw! Bow! You know you want to!" he teased, chasing her down onto her bed. He held her down by leaning on her against the bed's edge. Jade gave him an annoyed look while on her backside.
"Quit it, Drago!" she yelled, shoving his bare claw away. She held it down on her bed while he used other claw to tilt her chin up so he could kiss her. She kissed him back without thinking twice about it. Passionate lewd kisses continued from him, until she turned her face away.
"Stop it, Drago. I have to get ready." she said, pushing him off her and getting up. Drago was vexed by the interruption immediately.
"Get ready for what?" he asked in a low tone dangerously. Jade sighed, wishing she didn't have to tell him. But she knew if she didn't, he would follow her and see Jim with her and they would fight each other instantly. She didn't want that.
"I'm going somewhere with a friend." she said simply, trying to not give out too much info at first. But she had a feeling he would want to know which friend.
"A friend, huh? And who may that be?"
"It's not important."
"It is to me!" Drago yelled, growling and slapping his tail down on the floor, making a small booming noise. Jade scowled and shook her head. "Come on, Drago! Stop prying and get out. I have to get ready."
He snarled inhumanly. "Tell me who you're going with..." he said slowly and menacingly. Jade slammed down her purse on her dresser angrily and looked at him straight in the eye.
"It's Jim. I'm going to spend the day with him whether you like it or not." she said, showing no fear. Drago was flabbergasted.
"WHAT? After that idiot sent us BOTH to Mars' moons which lead us ultimately going to Hell, you want to spend the whole f-ing day with him? Are you CRAZY?" he shouted, blown away by her disloyalty to him.
"He wanted to send you there, not me. I got sent by accident." she said, looking away and checking her purse. Drago angrily lashed his tail with great ire.
"What's so great about that moron? If he could do a decent targeting spell, you wouldn't have been sent anywhere accidentally. Ugh! I can't believe you actually want to spend all day with him! What about me? You're my slave, don't forget that! You are to do what I say!" Drago ranted, pointing his claw at her.
Jade shook her head. "I'm not your slave, Drago. I do whatever I want, not what you want." He glared at her, contemptuously. "Yeah, I can see that." he said, clearly upset. He closed his eyes in rage and raised his clenched fists.
Even though he marked her, she didn't obey him nor have much fear left for him since she got to know him better. It was supposed to happen the other way around where she did obey and had much fear for him after knowing him well. But it wasn't and that was very agitating. "Rargh!" he shouted in frustration.
Jade went up to him and pushed his shaking angry fists down. "Please, don't take it the wrong way, Drago. I told you before that I have to have time to choose one of you two..."
Drago opened his eyes quickly and stared her down, meanly. "You told that to Drake." he said, implying he never did accept her terms on that subject. She scowled again. "I told you and you know it. I need time to decide and I have a right to.. shop around so to speak."
He took a deep breath and let smoke out from his nostrils. "I know you said that, but I didn't take it seriously. I'm the one you want. You even said that Drake was the one you loved and I'm still him! You already chose me! So why are you still 'shopping' around?"
She wished she was elsewhere, this subject was so touchy and so was Drago! "Hello! Did you already forget? You think I'm just your slave, your stupid little sex toy to use up. Well, that totally turns me off. I liked you better when you were Drake, you treated me like how I wanted to be treated. But then I find out it was really a trick and you were Drake all along. You made a fool out of me and thought it was so funny... That's why I can't choose you afterall even though I did originally."
"I see..." Drago said, understanding, but not wanting to care. But he did. He felt foolish in wanting to ask her for another chance. Demons MADE their slaves listen and obey. Why wasn't he doing that now? Why couldn't he?
'What is the matter with you?' his demon side screamed at him. 'She is YOUR slave! You marked her! She HAS to do what you say even if you have to torment her, her family, and friends to make her obey!'
Confused and angry at himself for not being instantly loyal to his demon side as he usually was, he decided it was a good time to leave so he could sort his thoughts out. He headed towards the open window he came in. Jade watched him go, feeling mixed emotions as well.
He turned his head as he placed his claw the window frame before he was about to jump out. "I grew to like you, Jade..." he said, in a human tone that Jade had known to be Drake's voice. "...I'll win you back..."
Then he was gone. Jade rushed over to the window and caught a glimpse of him disappearing into the woods behind her house. "Drago..." she said, biting her lip. "If only I could save you...from yourself..."
Jim was ecstatic as he drove to Jade's house. He remembered the day before, he was actually in Hell and helped Jade get back to Earth...along with that beast, Drago. He narrowed his eyes at the thought of his rival. How he hated him! Brainwashing Jade, killing innocent people, and causing trouble at Section 13, that just wasn't right!
That monster Drago needed to stand trial for his heinous crimes and be put away just like his horrid father, Shendu. Unfortunately, they would need to find, catch, and detain Drago first before he could stand trial. Jim wanted to just kill off the beast and not waste time or money by putting him on trial.
Jim gripped the steering wheel of his car angrily. Plus, he was that Drake guy all along! Totally seducing Jade and instilling lies into her. Jim was sure Drago had hexed her somehow. He had to be either forcing or blackmailing her into obeying and favoring him. He would save Jade from him, no matter what.
As Jim turned into the driveway, he grabbed a bouquet of multicolored roses from the passenger seat. He just bought them at an expensive fancy flower shop, but money was nothing to him. Jade was everything.
Even though it wasn't exactly a date, much less a formal one, he had to give her flowers. He rang her doorbell and waited. In a few moments, she opened the door.
"Hi, Jimbo! Ready for Melvin World?" she said, smiling. She was wearing a orange tank top and blue jeans. Jim smiled back. "As I'll ever be. Here these are for you." he said, handing her the roses. Jade couldn't smile harder, enjoying his gift. It showed that he cared. She really liked that and appreciated it.
"Beautiful! I'll put them in some water. Come on in, Jimbo." she said, opening the door wider. Jim went in and waited by the door as she went to put the roses in a vase. He smelled something strange, like evil dark chi coming from upstairs. It only took him a second to recognize that familiar stench. Drago!
He made himself calm and waited for Jade to return. "Thanks again for the roses, Jim. They're lovely. Well let's go." she said, but Jim stopped her. "Jade, tell me... Was Drago here?"
Jade wondered how he knew. "Don't worry, he left like twenty minutes ago. Come on, I want to get to Melvin World before a long line starts at the gate." She pushed past him and opened the door. He followed her out and watched her lock the door.
"I don't know why you like him..." Jim said strangely, like he was trying to start a conversation Jade did not want to have.
"Please, Jim, let's not talk about it. I-I don't want to talk about it." she answered quickly, avoiding his critical forest green eyes. She could not look into his judging eyes. She began to walk down the front steps to his car. He did not drop the subject.
"If he has a spell on you, I swear I'll break it. Let me help you, please." he said, close behind her. She felt guilty and embarrassed. Drago did mark her, but how could Jim undo it? Only someone like Uncle or Tohru could maybe, but she didn't want them or anyone from her family knowing. It was embarrassing and it made her look weak because Drago was able to overpower her and hex her.
It was bad enough Hsi Wu did it and it happened again to her through Drago. Although she was able to escape Hsi Wu's curse, Uncle never stopped criticizing her for it. She had promised to never again get mixed up with demons and get marked again. But she did.
Plus, she wasn't under any spells to make her like Drago. She liked him even though he was evil and a murderer. What did that say of her? That she was rotten and shallow? A traitor to good chi? She just didn't want to think about those things.
"I'm not under any spells." she said simply and got into the car. "I don't believe that." Jim replied, sounding angry now. Why did they have to start the day off like this?? Jade felt awful and worried. Jim probably thought she was an unstable nut for liking Drago or something no good. It bothered her a lot.
Silently, he drove them to Melvin World, as Jade thought a little. Maybe Jim could help her. Maybe dark chi magic could remove dark chi magic? She wasn't sure and it probably wasn't safe. She didn't want Jim to get more evil by asking him to use evil magic again. She had told him not to use it too. She didn't want to look like a hypocrite.
As Jim parked his car in the vast parking lot of Melvin World, he turned the car off and sighed. "Jade, why won't you let me help you? I'm not the same weakling as before. I'm different now. I can protect you." he said, looking at her with sad hurt eyes. Jade swallowed hard.
"Yeah, I noticed that back when we were in Hell, of all places." she said, feeling really weird saying that. Hell wasn't exactly the local corner market. "I know that you're different now, Jim. You were so strong and confident there that I didn't know it was you. I still appreciate how you saved me back then. I'd probably be dead otherwise."
"I owed it to you, Jade. It was my fault you got sent there in the first place. I'm so sorry." he said, feeling guilty again. Jade put her hand on his hand. "It was an accident and I already forgave you. Just forget about it."
"Ok. But please, just come to me if you need unhexing. I can do it, I promise to do it with good chi too. And I won't tell your uncles or Tohru." he said, very serious. Jade felt a little better. "Really?"
"Of course. Anything for my Jade." Jim said, smiling. She felt relieved to see he wasn't so mad anymore at her and that he wouldn't say a word to Jackie, Uncle, or Tohru about anything. She really didn't need them to think so poorly of her and especially not criticize her which they would if they found out anything.
"Thank you, Jimmy!" she cried, hugging him, which put him on Cloud Nine. If only she would kiss him willingly, that'd be something to remember.
The two headed out into Melvin World to enjoy the fun vomit-inducing rides, eat junk food, swim at the various pools, play arcade games and try their luck at mid-way games. Jim was determined to win prizes for Jade, the best ones only.
When he succeeded at winning her two rock concert tickets where her favorite band was going to be playing during that month, she was so happy that she kissed him on the cheek. It was a start, but better than no kiss at all. She carefully hid them away in her wallet and then hid that into her chic purse.
"You can come with me, Jim. You won them, so you should go too." she offered, making him very happy as well. He'd go anywhere she would go.
They spent most of the day riding rides and playing all kinds of games, including mid-way ones. Jim decided against asking Jade to ride the Tunnel of Love, since he feared she wouldn't want to.
He couldn't bear to stand rejection from her, it always hurt too much and made him feel worthless. So he avoided asking her if she wanted to do anything, he just let her tell him instead. It was much easier and he wouldn't have to fear any rejection situations popping up if he let her call the shots.
As they ate a late lunch near three in the afternoon, he looked at Jade fondly as she ate with him. He loved how she looked and how she was inside, she was just perfect to him. Well, except for the weird demon problems, but she was a victim. He would save her somehow from those monsters.
Jim wondered if Drago had touched her and figured he probably did, but he didn't care at the same time. He cared about Jade too much to worry about any decontamination she might have. That was how much he loved her. He wish he could let her know, but even so, that wouldn't be enough to get her to love him.
Even though he loved her dearly, it did not mean she would automatically just love him too. He was sure he had proven himself worthy by saving her from the jaws of Hell, but apparently that did not seem to be enough to persuade Jade away from Drago. He would have to try something else to convince Jade that he was for her, not Drago.
Riding the Puke-a-nater was so much fun for Jade and she was proud that she didn't vomit once. Jim felt pretty dizzy after riding that stupid ride with Jade about six times, so they had a time-out on a bench near the bathrooms. Jade poked fun at him, teasing him into puking his guts out.
He begged her to stop since he really began to feel sick. Why did she have to trick him into eating five hamburgers, two double chocolate swirl ice creams, cotton candy, too many pretzels and corn chips before they went on that ride?
"I bet those burgers in you want to come out real bad. They have to one way or another. I used to make Uncle Jackie spill his lunch all over the sidewalk every single time I got him on that ride. He puked real good too. All kinds of colors came out of him. Pink, yellow, green, white- hey!" Jade yelled, watching Jim run suddenly to the public restrooms.
'Poor Jimmy.' she thought, smiling fondly. 'He's still soft inside, heh! Guess dark chi doesn't make you tough that quick. Hmm.'
He came back eventually, looking a bit better and a little scared of her wiles. "Jade, please don't do that again to me. I'm not your Uncle Jackie. From what I can tell, he can't even handle your tricks. You're such a puke-instigator."
Jade giggled. "I can't help it. Old habits die hard, you know?" He smiled and sat down next to her, making a move by putting his arm around her shoulders.
"Yeah, I know." She didn't move away or complain. She even leaned her head against his shoulder and placed her hand on his collarbone, near his chest. That peaked his joy deep within.
"Jim, thanks for putting up with me. I know I'm hard to deal with sometimes." she said, snuggling against him. Jim put his other hand to her face and brushed her bangs out of her eyes.
"It's ok, Jade." he said, extremely happy that she was not rejecting his affections now. If only he could kiss her without rejection and she would kiss him back, that'd be something beyond wonderful to him.
After a while, she pulled away and suggested they go on the Ferris Wheel then. Jim was sure he could score a kiss or two there and no crowd to easily watch them. It was a perfect setting too, the sun was beginning to set then. Definitely romantic atmosphere.
After a long wait in line, they were loaded into a platform with a roof on top and seats at both ends of it. It had windows too, making conversations private.
Jade happily watched the scenery whiz by as they went around and around. Strangely, she thought of Drago when he was disguised as Drake and how they were on the Ferris Wheel together before.
He was so sweet and perfectly masculine, so confident and romantic. He usually made the first moves and Jade happily accepted each loving touch, each passionate kiss. She missed Drake, he was so wonderful...but he was really Drago.
She knew how he really was inside. Even though he helped his human mother against his demon father, what did it really mean?
That he was becoming more human or was it just another award-winning acting job to fool her into thinking he was turning away from evil? She wished she knew and wanted to save him. She had grown fond of him, even though he was her enemy.
Was it because he was related to Hsi Wu, her first crush and love? Like she could have him too in Drago? She knew it was a weird twisted way of thinking, but it was a possibility to why she felt fond of Drago.
She accepted all Hsi Wu's first moves back when she first met him as Seymour. It was because he was so suave, confident, fearless, and very friendly to her when everyone else teased her instead.
He was a good listener and sweetly polite, something Drago lacked much of. But, of course, he was a perfect actor too. He was nothing more than a cunning deceiver.
He only wanted to please and benefit himself, a selfish hateful monster with a fancy pretty outside packaging. Well, when he disguised his grey flying dragon form to human form and laced his words with sweet lying honey he had that fancy outer packaging.
Jade felt that Drago was different and that she had more a chance to be with him since he was half-human. Maybe it would be possible to change him into being normal and live a normal human life with her. That was her foolish dream now.
Did she feel something for Hsi Wu that much still that she wanted to have him in a way, a somewhat safer way through Drago? It was the only thing she could think of to explain her insane desire for a half-human, half-demon monster.
She had to give up on Hsi Wu since he was a full demon and very evil. She felt Drago might be workable, redeemable somehow since he did have human blood running through his veins. But then there was Jim now, he was different too. More manly and even confident, extremely so compared to the old Jim.
She wasn't sure if she could love this new Jim right off the bat. He shouldn't have to be evil to improve himself. She trusted the old Jim more. This new Jim was a bit too pushy and did things behind her back like moving in on her position as boss at Section 13. She did not like that.
Though he was acting more like the old Jim now, she wasn't sure if she should trust him just yet. Well, she did trust he wouldn't tell Uncle, Jackie, and Tohru since she could tell he really really liked her a lot and wouldn't do anything to make her dislike him (such as squealing on her about anything he found out that her family and Tohru wouldn't approve of). But that was about it.
Once he was fully cleansed of dark chi magic, then he should be safe to trust. She couldn't describe it exactly, but it was like he was a completely different person now and she knew the dark chi magic had everything to do with it.
Jim waited until the ride stopped near the top and he got her to look towards the beautiful sunset. "Oh, it's so pretty." Jade said in a hushed voice, still lost in her troubled thoughts.
Jim bravely hugged her sideways, keeping his hands in all the safe zones. He wouldn't risk touching her anywhere she would find offensive. He bitterly thought about how Drago most likely groped her evilly no matter what she thought or felt about it. No way a monster like that would behave decently. He would pay dearly!
"Yeah, but it's nothing compared to you, Jade." he said, speaking his heart.
Jade did like Jim holding her like that since it was polite and sweet, not lust-orientated like Drago's grabs and hugs. She leaned against Jim and let herself go. A friend was a friend and she definitely needed one, even if he had dark chi issues. Jim took a chance and made her look at him.
"Jade, I have to tell you how I feel... I..." He paused and closed his eyes. He might be setting himself for a lot of hurt here if she didn't care or take him seriously. She might still see him as a friend only. But he knew he better tell her now otherwise he would be repeating the mistakes he made before.
"I-I..." A lump in his throat was caught and he had to swallow hard to continue. "I love you, Jade. I've always loved you. More now than ever. I can't stand to be without you..." he said, pouring his heart out, then recoiling as she just stared at him with sad forlorn eyes.
He felt absolutely terrible then. What a fool he was! Why was he torturing himself like this? She obviously didn't feel the same way as he did. He felt sick. And stupid.
Jade, on the other hand, felt dread. Two guys were crazy about her at the same time and she was pretty much rejecting them both currently even though she was fond of them both. She wished she knew who to pick, but that wasn't so easy.
The safe, yet boring option would to just go with Jim and be done with it. Kill Drago and live a normal human life. That would be the right thing to do.
The adventurous, gratifying, fun option would be to go with Drago and change him to be more human than demon. But then Jim might become a nutty black chi wizard or just commit suicide or something terrible. Then she would feel guilty because she let a good friend down.
Plus there was no guarantee that Drago would change his ways for love. What if he never changed and she would be just wasting her time? If she did reject him, she was pretty sure there would be a good chance that he would increase his evil ways immediately to retaliate against her. She didn't want that.
She felt like she was in between a rock and a rock! The situations and possible consequences were too much for her to just make a decision and go with it. She didn't want either guy to go nutty and either one definitely would once rejected.
She didn't want to explain her situation to him, knowing that would be enough to set off Jim into killing Drago himself and if that fiery teen was to be killed, she wanted to do it.
But deep inside she knew she no longer had the guts to do it. She cared about him too much now. She knew her liking the enemy was dangerous, but she couldn't help it. Love was blind.
Jade knew she better say something to Jim since she could see the despair clouding his eyes. Before he could belittle himself or look away in humiliation, she took his hands into hers.
"Jim, listen to me... Drago did come to me this morning and I told him that I still need more time to decide. And while he didn't take it too well, I think he understood." she said, but Jim quickly pulled his hands out of hers.
"How can a monster understand anything?" he asked angrily, his dejected feelings mutating into great disgust. He HATED Drago with a passion. He was a big reason why his love quest was so hard and painful to win Jade's heart.
"Jimbo, please. I can tell if he understands something or not. Believe me, I know. Now it's your turn to understand too. Ok?"
Jim narrowed his eyes and closed them, bowing his head. If that beast was dead, then Jade wouldn't have to reject him anymore. She must like that monster better than him, that had to be it! Well, if he had to fight him to the bloody death, then so be it.
He wasn't going to back down now. He had the power to fight him, he could do it. Though, he couldn't let Jade know this. He would need to use dark magic to battle Drago. But it would be worth it to win Jade.
Besides, he could handle the black magic safely. He'd be just fine. He knew how Jade was, she always jumped into things without thinking or any precautions. He, on the other hand, took all the precautions available. He wouldn't end up a mindless slave to evil. No way. He knew what he was doing.
And besides, Jade had told him how Uncle and Tohru (unwillingly) used dark magic to aid them before and they weren't evil monster people now. He would be the same. It was possible to control fire, it was no different with dark magic.
"Ok." he said, clearly upset. Jade blinked away the tears forming in her eyes. He was taking this just as badly as Drago! What was she going to do? She couldn't go out both of them at the same time. She was no two-timing snake woman. Never, no way!
"Jimbo. Please don't be like this. I like the both of you. Give me time." she said, touching his shoulder. Jim sighed hard and looked at her.
"What am I doing wrong, Jade? I thought correcting my mistake of sending you to that terrible place far away was by bringing you back home safely. I thought it would be enough to make you notice me. You know, like me better than...him." Jim said the last word with great contempt.
"Tell me what will get you to like me better, please just tell me! What am I doing wrong here?"
Jade looked away in embarrassment. "Nothing, Jimmy. It's just...just..." She let out a huge sigh. Should she tell him about Hsi Wu and everything? If she did, would he think she was really not at all fit to run Section 13?
Then he might believe he would have a right to relieve her of her position there. No, she better not tell him about Hsi Wu. Telling current potential love interests about your past love interests was not the thing to do.
"Is it because he's a demon? Is that why?"
Jade shot her eyes back to him in a second. "He's half...and half-human. A nephilim." Jim narrowed his eyes once more. He knew Drago was a nephilim, because he had seen his mother and he could sense she was human.
"So you think I'm boring because I'm only human and he's exciting because he's a nephilim?" he asked, desperately trying to figure her out. Was she under a spell or not? What if she wasn't?
Then it would be much harder for him to fix this. If he killed Drago and she really cared about him without being under a spell, she might hate Jim then. He had to figure this out now.
Jade shook her head. "No!... Yes... Oh, I don't know! It's hard to explain."
"Yeah, I'll say it is! You have feelings for the enemy and that is really dangerous for Section 13. You have a responsibility to provide unbiased fair leadership to the organization, but you can't do that if you love that monster!" Jim said, getting very upset. Why wouldn't she see the truth to this without him having to say it? What was wrong with her?
"I don't love him!" she shot back, but didn't mean it. She did fall in love with him, well the Drake version of him. How she wanted him back, it almost seemed like a childish dream to wish for, to grab for, and to chase after. But she continued to do so anyway despite how disloyal she was being to the human race.
Jim just stared at her, like he didn't believe her and that she was a coo-coo nutty nut. He looked away and stared at his lap. She noticed how his fists were clenched tightly and trembling.
"If you're under a spell, I will break it... But if you're not... You better tell me now..." His forest green eyes returned to her light brown ones, searching her soul.
"I told you before I'm not under any spells from Drago. But you won't believe me so why should I bother telling you over and over?" Jade asked, getting mad then. Jim felt really sick suddenly hearing her response.
She WAS willingly liking that monster Drago! This made everything much harder for him to win her over. He couldn't make her love him. He wanted her to love him willingly, not be forced into it. He wanted true love from her, nothing else.
"I can't understand why you are so fond of him. I really can't..."
"I don't expect you to."
At that point the ride was over for them and the worker there asked them to exit. They did so, feeling distant from each other. It was dark now and they didn't feel like staying there anymore even though the park was going to stay open for three hours more.
In stony silence, they walked to Jim's car and got in. After they buckled their seatbelts, Jade wanted to be on good terms with him then. She didn't want him to go on a dark chi spree later. And she did care for him too. He was her lifelong friend.
Plus, if he was sore at her, he could convince everyone at Section 13 that she wasn't fit for her job anymore and he would take over. Then it would be Jim's job to hunt down Drago and get rid of him.
Surely, one of them or even both might get killed in any guaranteed fights they would have if Jim was the new boss. Jade really really didn't want any of that happening!
"Jimmy, I'm sorry. I'm such a jerk. I should tell you why I can't reject Drago right off the bat." Jade said, looking at Jim as he drove her back to her house. Since he didn't say anything either way, she went on.
"I-I'm cursed by him... He marked me here." she said, pointing to her chest. Jim slammed on the brakes then and swerved to the side of the road. Luckily no one was behind them on a back road that they were on then.
"I knew it! I knew he did something to you that was holding you back!" he cried, looking at her intently. He wished she told him the details sooner. He could help her and win her love with more ease.
Well, if he could help her remove that curse and mark. He wasn't sure if he could do it just yet, but he sure would try to! He would need to do plenty of research first.
Jade squirmed uncomfortably in her seat. "He marked me back on the day I went out on my own to stop him. He was about to kill me when I lost to him and I begged for my life. I agreed to his terms...to be his slave forever."
The way Jim stared at her made her shift around in her seat more. "Yeah, I know. The great Jade getting overpowered like that is really losers-ville."
"No, Jade. You're not a loser. He's a monster and you were victimized. And I promise you I'll make things right for you. I'll remove that curse and mark he has on you, I swear it on my life. Then he won't have any control over you, no claims, nothing! I'll need to do a lot of research first, but I will get you out of this mess. I guarantee you that." Jim said, turning the car off and taking her hands into his. He wanted to assure her any way he could.
She bowed her head down to hid her falling tears of shame. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, but I was afraid to tell you. I mean, Jackie, Uncle, and Tohru all start to judge me whenever I get into problems like this one. They will think badly of me, I'm sure of it. I can't stand that!" she cried, letting it out.
Jim immediately hugged her hard. "Don't worry, Jade. I won't tell them anything. This will be between you and me only. I promise." he said softly, rubbing her back trying to comfort her as she sobbed silently. Jade made use of the tissues in Jim's glove box and he wiped her tears away as a gesture of caring.
She gave him a soft, grateful smile. Jim wanted to help her, she definitely needed unhexing, that was for sure. She felt something special in her heart grow for him. It felt like the same warm wonderful feeling she had back when Drake 'saved' her from Drago. Jim was genuine with his affections and that was something Jade found really special since all the ones before him were just fakers.
As Jim finished wiping the last of Jade's tears away, they looked into each other's eyes intensely. Jim stared into her beautiful light brown eyes deeply, feeling his love for her intensify ten-fold. Before he could input doubts or worries into his thoughts, he found himself kissing her boldly.
Jade widened her eyes with surprise from Jim's sudden powerful kiss. But then she closed them and kissed him back, placing her hand on his cheek gingerly. As soon as she touched his face, he pulled her closer to him. Soon she had her arms around him as well, kissing him tenderly. At a point, they stopped and began to laugh nervously.
"Whoa! Wow!" Jade breathed, her cheeks rosy as she grinned. Jim gazed at her affectionately. "Yeah...wow..." he said blissfully, his heart content and merry. They looked into their eyes again, love's hypnotizing spell trying to return.
Jade quickly looked away, giggling. Was he wooing her? Jim? That was amazing! This was Jim we're talking about here! With a smile, she returned her eyes to him. "Uh, Jim? Are we going to stay on this back road all night or are you going to take me home?"
Jim continued to stare at her love-struck, when he realized that she was asking him questions. "Oh! Oh, yeah. Of course. Heh, sorry..." he said, feeling a little silly and started the car. Jim could still taste her in his mouth, he loved it. The taste, the smell, everything about her. How he wanted to just hold her forever!
The trip back to her house was over too soon. They talked non-stop the entire time. Jade felt bad. She didn't want to leave his car. She actually wanted to be with him now.
She thought about offering him to spend the night with her, but she put that idea out of her head. She worried that Drago could come over any time and if he saw Jim there, well, you know. She sat in the seat for a moment and asked him something.
"Jim, can I stay at your place tonight?" she asked. Jim wasn't sure if he heard her right. "Huh?" he asked, surprised. Jade smiled gently.
"I'd like to talk to you a bit longer at your place. And express my thanks to you more for coming to save me..." Jade said, touching his face warmly and raising his spirits high above the clouds.
"Sure, no problem at all." he replied, unable to stop smiling. He drove her to his house then, which he often found lonely. But tonight it was going to be different at last...!
