J2: The Deception
Emerging from Northeastern Woods, the two were back in the city. Drago let Jade walk on her own and they walked back to Jade's house. Cars were parked along the sides of the streets as usual, but not so usual was three crooks trying to break into a shiny new silver BMW.
Jade went into cop mode and confronted them. They were dressed in black clothes and wore black masks that only revealed their eyes. The shortest of the three pointed a gun at her the instant she yelled at them.
Then the guy stopped and laughed. He pulled off his mask and showed himself. "Yo, yo, yo! It's us, Chan! See?" StrikeMaster Ice said with a sheepish grin. "Caught us in the act, we know."
Drago stood beside Jade as she lowered her gun. Ice waved to him."Yo, D-man! How that birthday of yours going? Have much fun with yer chick?"
"It was great, you bums. She and I are getting hitched. Check out this ring!" Drago held out his claw so they could see his opal ruby ring.
"How sweet, yo! A wedding proposal on your birthday! Awww, man, that's cool!" Cobra gushed, slightly jealous. He wished that could happen to him, even if it wasn't his birthday.
Cobra secretly read gushy-mushy romance novels and couldn't wait to find the girl of his dreams to spend the rest of his life with. Meechi seemed to be a great candidate, even though she was Drago's mother. They noticed Jade's diamond ring glittering in the bright moonlight.
"Choice rock you got there, little lady. Mind if I take a look?" Ice asked, hoping to steal it and sell it for fast cash. Jade hid her ring behind her back. It was Drago's decision if he wanted to show his ring, but she was never going to show these crooks her newest precious possession.
"Take a hike, jerk." she answered irritably. Then, Drago grabbed Ice by the front of his shirt and lifted him off the street with one claw.
"Don't get ANY ideas of stealing her ring OR mine! Unless you want to be turned into ashes, you'll leave these rings ALONE! You all got that?" he growled, looking at them all in a row. Ice agreed in a hurry.
"Got it!" Ice said.
"Crystal clear, yo." Cobra said. Fist made a circle with his index finger and thumb with his right hand to show he would comply. Drago let Ice go then. Jade narrowed her eyes at the three teens that were just breaking into a BMW moments before.
"You know, I saw you guys trying to break into this car. I have to take you in now." she said, pulling flex cuffs out of her pocket. She carried these things often just in case she didn't have handcuffs.
"You're arresting us?" Cobra asked, sounding surprised. The gang looked worried. They could fight her off, but they feared Drago would get angry and beat them up if they hurt Jade at all. Ice turned to Drago with a desperate expression.
"She's your woman! Make her leave us alone, yo!" he cried, almost begging for help.
"Why should I help you clowns out?" Drago asked, not really caring what happened to them at first. Ice and Fist looked at each other, not sure what to say. Then Cobra did.
"If that other guy puts a spell on her again, you won't be able to find her without us." Cobra pointed out and the fiery teen now had a good reason to help them.
"Leave them alone." Drago said to Jade, getting in her way of trying to flex cuff Ice. Jade glared at him. "Drago, I have to arrest them." she said firmly, but she could feel that this was going to lead to some trouble.
"You heard MC. If that idiot Jim puts a spell on you again to hide you from me, how can I find you? They can find you for me and they're the only ones I remotely trust with that job. Let them go, it benefits us both." Drago said, trying to reason with her even though he didn't like to reasonable. He didn't want to be forced into fighting with her.
"I know, but I'll make sure I stay away from Jim. Ok? Now, please move." Jade said, trying to get past him. Drago grabbed her and held onto her.
"I said leave them alone!" Drago growled, getting annoyed that she was making this harder for him. Why did she always have to disobey him? ROAR!
Jade kicked her foot back into his shin, making the teen let her go. She tried to get at Ice to cuff him, but Drago shoved her back. She stared at him in disbelief and shock. Ice and Cobra watched in interest while Fist kept on hot wiring the car.
"Alright, we'll have to do this the hard way then..." Jade said angrily. She took a flying leap at Drago, aiming for his face. Getting kicked in the jaw caused the teen to step backwards a bit.
In a reflex of rage, he tackled her to the street and held her there. "Knock it off! Let them go! Or do you like hiding from me with Jim?" he snarled, flames boiling from his mouth.
Jade punched him in the face several times, trying to free herself from being squashed. He was purposely crushing her to the asphalt with all his weight so she couldn't barely move.
"Of course not! I can't let them get away with stealing stuff!" Jade yelled. Only her arm was loose enough to whack him, but it did no good. He was immune to most of her attacks anyway.
"Ooo, love quarrel. Gotta love it, man." Ice said, grinning evilly. Cobra nodded, smiling back. This was some show!
"You know I don't like it when Jim puts spells on me to hide me from you! Now, get off! Drago! I can't breathe!" she cried, pushing against his neck and chin since those were the only parts of him that were not crushing her flat.
Fist finally got the car started and the other two jumped in. "Thanks, D!" Ice yelled. "Don't forget to invite us to the wedding, yo!" Cobra called, waving out the window as they sped off. Drago finally got off of Jade then.
"Drago, how could you?!" Jade cried, very upset at him. "They stole someone's car! That's not right!" Drago blocked several kicks and hits from her.
"I already explained to you why they should be let go!" He narrowed his eyes then as upset rage overtook him.
"H-ll, I'm beginning to think you WANT to be hidden from me so you can screw with Jim and I can't ever find out!" Drago growled out of anger.
Jade stared at him like he was crazy. How dare he accuse her of such a thing?! Realizing what he said was a terrible mistake, he tried to cover it up by taking it back. He never did smell any type of sexual scent of Jim's on her, so he shouldn't falsely accuse her.
"D-mn, I'm sorry... I didn't mean that." he said, shaking his head. How could he be so stupid in saying something like that anyway? It was one of his worries, but he would know if she ever did make love with Jim by the smells on her afterwards. She wouldn't be able to hide something like that anyway.
Jade bit her lip, close to tears. That distant look of insulted hurt in her eyes nearly killed him. His willing lover would be no more if he didn't mend this problem his foolhardy mouth caused.
"Jade, I'm really sorry! I was stupid for accusing you like that. I'd know if you screwed around with Jim or any other guy. I can tell by scent." he said, pausing to take look at her since he was staring at the ground as he spoke. Her eyes seemed less distant now. Whew!
He went up to her and took her into his arms. Jade turned her face away when he tried to kiss her. Tears were flowing down her cheeks then as she cried silently. She was very insulted and hurt by his careless angry words. He made her look at him then.
"Look, I'm sorry! I was wrong for saying those sh-t a-s things. I know you'd never fool around with another now that you're with me. I believe in our love for each other." Drago said, tenderly kissing her. Jade seemed to accept his apology then by kissing him back hard.
"I believe in our love too." Jade whispered softly, hugging him. "I forgive you now. But don't ever accuse me like that again! That's really low and dirty, especially when you know the truth. I don't like being insulted, got it?"
"Ok, ok! I said I was sorry. I still am. So, wub me!" he said in a cute silly tone as if he was a baby. Jade had to laugh and rubbed noses with him.
"Alright, me wub you!" she said, looking deep into his eyes with a smile. He could see that terrible hurt sad look in her eyes was at last gone and he was reassured.
He couldn't afford to lose her now or ever. He loved her and she was marked by him, so she was his no matter what. And he intended on keeping her his too.
Hand in claw, they walked back to her house which thankfully was on a less populated street, so they could take a stroll without nosy people or neighbors seeing them.
Jade took his slander against her before very hard since it appeared to be a sign that he really didn't trust her much at all and her love wasn't helping in the trust department.
That was no good and hinted to her that she might be wasting her time in trying to change him. No, she couldn't believe that! He did say he was sorry and he never meant any of his harsh words.
The thing was, if he was able tell whether or not she had sex with other men (which she never did), why would he accuse her of such a horrible thing in the first place? He knew the truth already, so why accuse her like that? Did he trust her or not?
Then again, that also could be seen as just his anger making him say such terrible things. If he can smell the truth on her, yet he accuses her anyhow, that would mean his anger did his talking for him and he really didn't mean any of the mean things he said.
Leaning towards that Drago said those things out of anger seemed to be right. She knew he often said things he didn't mean, especially when he was angry. His temper was always explosive and uncontrollable.
She did decide not to report Ice and crew for their grand theft auto. But she would leave anonymous hints and tips to the right people though. She didn't need them to play escort, she would go to Drago herself and she wouldn't let Jim stop her.
Back at her house, Jade and Drago went through the back door. They washed up and Drago happily made himself comfortable up in Jade's room.
She watched him go and sighed. 'I'll show you, Drago. I'll prove that you can trust me no matter what. I'll never cheat on you either.' she thought as she called Section 13 to report the dead body out in the woods.
She knew she should call Captain Black directly, but she knew he would send someone over to her place to get more info from her regardless. So she didn't call him.
When she got Dan on the phone, she told him to contact the police and to get a special team out in the Northeastern Woods to aid them. He promised to do so and hung up. Setting her cordless phone down on the kitchen table, she went upstairs to her room.
She checked in to see Drago in her personal bathroom connected to her room. He was washing off his feet in the tub, not wanting any maggots being left on him.
He grumbled to himself, cursing about the creepy fly larva and how they should not disgrace his feet by touching him. She smiled, shaking her head.
He was so adorable sometimes. The way he said things made he look so childish, yet so cute at the same time. She went to her closet and changed into her nightgown. Laying down on her bed, she turned on the TV in her room and watched it a bit before dozing off.
Moments later, she felt Drago climb in beside her. She welcomed his arms going around her and snuggled up against him. They watched the TV for several moments before Jade had something to say.
"Drago...?"
"Hm?"
"You know I'd never cheat on you. And even if you couldn't tell by the scents... You would still know that and trust me, right?" she asked, wanting to know his answer to that one.
Drago replied quickly, easing her worries. "Yes." he said simply and then went to sleep. Jade accepted his short answer with mixed thoughts. She wanted to believe him, but she still had a nagging feeling that he didn't trust her in some way or another.
That just wasn't good enough for her, she didn't feel comfortable with that. She would still have to do more to get him to trust her fully. Soon, she had half awake dreams that she could control with her creativity.
She was making out with Drago, but she imagine-dreamed him having huge wings like Hsi Wu. He covered her with his wings, double hugging her with them and his arms.
She felt him pushing her down onto the ground, then making love to her. Eventually, it slowly melted away to dark nothingness, but she still had the warm good feelings between her legs. This was going to be a good sleep...
When Jade woke up the next morning, she found Drago still there next to her. He was on his back with his arm closest to her up above his head and the other hanging off the bed. His legs were tangled in her blankets and his soft snoring told her he was in a deep sleep.
She ran her fingers over his smooth chest, loving that silky soft feeling of his scales. She laid near him, nuzzling. He murmured in his sleep, pleased about something.
She figured it must be a good dream, then noticed his hips bucking gently and his proud tall erection through his boxers. She rolled her eyes. She knew what kind of dream he was having now. Didn't he ever stop thinking about that?
Jade shook her head, smiling then. She shouldn't complain, afterall she did dream about sex the night before too. Feeling sorry for him, she reached down to his manhood and slipped her hand into his boxers. Rock solid hot length met her fingers and she gripped him hard.
An excited moaning growl rumbled from Drago the moment she grabbed him. She started to stroke him, rubbing his penis lovingly. Pumping it up and down easily woke up the fiery teen.
"Uhhh...! Ohhh, yeahhh... Jaaade... Mmm..." he purred, extremely happy to wake up to this. Since her hand was aching, she decided to give him some real passionate sex then.
She slipped off her panties and sat upon him. They both moaned out their lecherous enjoyment at the same time. Bucking and thrusting soon rewarded them with sticky ejaculations. Fast, yet satisfying.
Jade got off him and went to the bathroom to get cleaned up. She had to get ready for work and prepared for the SS operation. Drago stayed behind on her bed, groaning his intense pleasure.
"Uhhh, ohhh man! A morning f-ck! Mmm, what a great thing to wake up to!" he moaned happily, masturbating. He napped some more while Jade got a shower. She came out minutes later, rubbing her hair in a towel.
"You can expect morning, afternoon, and evening sex tomorrow if you're a good widdle dragon and help me get Marlone's illegal crime ring broken." she said, going to her closet for her work uniform.
Drago groaned sexily, jiggling himself harder. "Ohh, yeah! Consider it done, honey! Ahhh-uhhh! Ohhh, yesss..." The scaly teen moaned blissfully as he climaxed again. Jade giggled.
"Seriously, you really have a bad sex addiction, Drago." she said fondly. She went over to him and petted his cheek with the back of her hand. He pulled her down and held her close, kissing her hard.
"Think of me when you're at work..." he purred, tasting her lips lovingly. She expressed her love back and stood back up. "I always do. You can stay here whenever you want, Drago. I won't let anyone know. I get lonely when I come home to an empty house."
"Sure. And I'll look for you at the warehouses tonight." he said, rubbing noses with her. She kissed him again. "Thanks, just meet me on that tall hill near there, that's where I'll be. Bye, Hon." she said, blowing kisses. He yawned and stretched.
"Bye, dear. Have fun at work." He made his tail wave goodbye to her, making her laugh. Then she left.
Jade's work day went by fairly quickly and soon she found herself travelling to the warehouses. No need for Remmy and Joe to take her, she knew where to go this time.
She staked out the place on a nearby hill overlooking the warehouses. The ship had already arrived and was being unloaded. She used her binoculars to see a crowd of young girls being shoved about by the Tom.
The goons were hard at work moving the illegal goods onto waiting trucks. Jade grit her teeth in rage when she saw the Tom smack down a twelve year old down to the ground suddenly. Then she felt a powerful familiar presence behind her and smiled.
"Ready to kick some butt?" she asked, noticing that Drago was wearing his Section 13 uniform. He stood next to her and cracked his knuckles.
"You bet. Let's go." The two stealthily made their way over to the warehouses undetected. Jade made sure she did things by the book, even though it was against Drago's choice.
They watched several yards at the Tom loading girls up into a waiting van. The plan was to follow where that van went so they could find out where the other girls were being held at. They were to stay hidden in the shadows, undetected until backup arrived.
But Jade could no longer hold back her rage when she saw the Tom sucker-punch a sixteen year old right in the face when she didn't get into a van that was going to take them to their new and permanent holding pens.
He was about to beat her senseless when Jade showed herself. Jade pointed her pistol at the Tom and the goons.
"FREEZE! Get your hands up! You're all under arrest!" she yelled. The Tom laughed at her and threw the sixteen year old teen at a nearby goon to hold onto so she couldn't run off.
The other girls were scared to death and watched in horror. He instructed the goon to continue loading the girls into the van. The Tom approached Jade in a threatening manner.
"You again! So...you're really a cop, eh?" he said, dangerously. Jade grinned cockily.
"Duh! Do you think I'm gonna let you keep on getting away with these underage prostitutes, illegal drugs and weapons?" she said, her gun pointing straight at his head. The Tom laughed again and the goons began to laugh as well.
"Like you can stop me, little woman." he said scoffing. Then he turned away, acting as if she was nothing.
"Shoot her." he said, waving his claw signaling the gunmen to blow her away. The surrounding goons pointed their guns at Jade then, ready to fire.
But to their shock and surprise, Drago was on top of a truck and began to breathe fire at them in a circle. They shot at him instead, but when they saw their bullets were doing no harm to him, most of them ran off screaming that he was a monster.
The teen jumped down on the remaining gunmen, grabbing and throwing them about like flimsy dolls into the trucks. He pounced on a thug that tried to shoot at him again after being thrown into the side of a truck.
Drago began to beat the thug viciously and his pals tried to aid their fallen friend, but then they soon were victims as well. The fiery teen held one goon by the neck with his tail and threw him away into the water at the docks.
He punched two goons in the gut while he kicked another thug off his feet with his left leg. One last goon tried his luck by tackling Drago from behind and jumped on his back, trying to get a choke hold on him.
The teen threw the guy over his shoulders forward into a truck's grill with so much force that the truck's right headlight was smashed out. The rest of the goons gave up quickly after seeing several of their pals getting beaten up by the Fire teen.
Suddenly, the Tom went behind Drago and grabbed him in a choke hold too like the goon had done moments before. Drago fought him off and the Tom swiped at him with his claws. The teen recoiled instantly and roared hatefully.
Drago wasted no time jumping upon the Tom and sank his own dragon claws into that thick golden brown fur. He raked his claws outward, removing chunks of flesh and fur. He growled his demonic tones venomously, showing no fear.
Taken back by the teen's ferocious attack, he threw him off and took off onto the ship, trying to escape with the evidence. He would try and set up shop elsewhere then. But Drago chased after him and cornered him in the control room.
"Here, kitty, kitty..." Drago snarled with an evil tight grin, flexing his bloody claws. The Tom growled back, sounding very much like a lion.
He torn a chair that was bolted to the floor and flung it at Drago, but the teen dodged out of the way. The chair broke once it hit the wall.
Drago was not intimidated and rumbled out his best satanic growl, a sound that was mixed with several demon wails. Each were at different pitches so it sounded like at least six or seven were making this eerie frightening sound.
The Tom felt a bit worried. Was this kid even human or what? "Nice vocals, boy, but you're not taking me in." he said, backing up to the controls. He hoped to start the ship and throw the kid overboard somehow.
"Who said I was going to do that? I'm going to kill you..." Drago said, his voice deep, dangerous, and demonic. Killing again was what he longed to do and butchering off this cat guy would be a blessing.
Jade often said how she wanted to kill the Tom herself since he was raping children, so Drago believed he would be doing her a nice favor.
"Nice joke, boy. But how do you think you can pull that off? You're just a young punk." Tom said, reaching into a pocket for his tazer. He pulled his hand out when he saw Drago's claw light up in flames.
"Don't try it. I'll burn you to ashes if you go reaching into your pocket again. Not like a gun would help you, I just hate having my food fight back." Drago took a step closer.
The Tom's eyes grew wide in surprise. He hadn't seen Drago attack the goons with his fire breath earlier so he didn't know he could control fire. How was he doing that?? It just wasn't scientifically possible!
"Hey! How are you able to do that? You... you ain't human!" he said, backing up against the control console. Drago laughed evilly, enjoying himself.
At last, he could be tasting fresh blood without worrying about Jade getting after him for killing again. Well, that was what he thought. Beginning to fear for his life, the Tom reached into his pocket again for the tazer gun.
Reacting to this, Drago grabbed the cat man with his flaming claws. The Tom screamed at the burning pain as the teen's fire seared him and he whipped out the tazer, switching it on. He rammed it into Drago's gut with one quick motion.
"AARGGHH!!" Drago shrieked and was disorientated momentarily. The Tom grabbed the back of the teen's head and slammed his face into the ship's controls, smashing the machinery. Raw escaping electricity flew up into Drago, causing him more agony.
The Tom grinned, knowing this must be the kid's weakness. He punched him in the back while elbowing his skull into the controls, making sure he stayed down. The teen stopped moving, making the cat man believe he was dead.
That was easy! The Tom grinned evilly and went to another console to start the ship to leave. He would throw the kid's body overboard soon enough. There was no hurry with a dead body after all.
But then in the corner of his eye, he saw the teen getting up and rushing at him. Before he had a chance to react, he was shoved through the door and out on the deck.
Drago savagely beat the lion man viciously, snarling like a dragon. The Tom defended himself by holding his forearms up as shields. His blood splattered at every swipe and he was losing blood fast. The Tom knew he had to get free and escape.
He kicked the wild teen off him with his legs and took off down to the docks. He saw that the last of his goons were keeping the young girls as hostages while the lady cop kept them from leaving. Disgusted, he went down to deal with the cop lady.
Knocking a yelling negotiating thug out of the way, the Tom held up an innocent eleven year old girl by the arm and held her up like she was nothing more than a rag doll.
Jade pointed her gun at the Tom and shouted at him to stop. "Give yourself up, Tom! Put the girl down! NOW!" she yelled, growing hatefully angry at this evil act of cowardice.
The girl squirmed and struggled to free herself, but she couldn't get loose. The Tom purposely gripped her wrist tighter, making the girl scream in pain.
"I said let her go!" Jade yelled, trying to get closer, but the Tom put his claws up to the girl's throat. "Don't come any closer or this one dies." he threatened with an evil grin.
Jade wished she had waited for backup to arrive before she attacked these guys, but it was too late now. Just then, Drago appeared from behind the Tom and bit down on the lion-man's wrist.
The Tom let the girl go instantly and screamed in horrific pain as the fiery teen put a vise-like grip on him with his teeth cutting deep into the furry flesh. The cat man flung the teen into a truck's side, creating a large dent. Drago fell to the asphalt and bark-growled at him.
The Tom held his injured wrist and glared at the scaly teen, growling as well. Drago instantly blew fire back at him. The Tom jumped out of harm's way and locked the back doors shut on the van holding most of the underage girls. He went into the driver's seat and tried to shut it, but Drago caught the door before it slammed shut.
The two males growled viciously at each other, struggling against the other's strength. Jade tried to get the back doors opened, but the Tom started to drive away with Drago still hanging onto the open driver's side door.
The Tom tazed Drago between the eyes, causing the teen to lose his grip. With one savage punch to the chest, he was thrown off and fell to the street, screaming while the Tom drove off. Jade thought fast and tried to take a nearby car to chase the cat man with.
She stopped in her tracks when Remmy appeared from nowhere, pointing his gun at her. Jade had her gun aimed at him as well. She wouldn't back down, not now.
"I liked you pretty lady. Too bad you're a cop..." he said and cocked his weapon. Jade held her gun tightly, ready to kill if she had to.
There was a brief moment where neither did a thing, then suddenly Drago rammed both of his claws down on the back of Remmy's head, knocking him out.
"Come on!" he said, getting into the car. Jade blinked a second, then smiled gratefully. She was so glad to have Drago as her backup, he sure came through in a pinch.
She got in the driver's seat and they took off while several remaining goons shot at them. Drago breathed some more fire on the goons until they were out of range.
Jade drove close to the fleeing van and gave Drago her cel phone. "Call Captain Black, tell him to bring backup. Quick!" she ordered.
Drago didn't want to do that, but he did it anyway. Jade was surprised to hear him using his more human voice, which was Drake's voice to talk to Captain Black.
Drago finished the call and closed her cel phone. "He said to not lose sight of the van and he'll get the police to help." Jade had to drive crazily to keep up the chase after the Tom. Drago held onto the open car window for support when she turned, swerving hard to avoid innocent motorists.
"He's going to kill someone and all those girls in the back if he keeps running like this!" Jade cried, doing her best to go after that jerk without smashing into someone herself. Drago climbed out the window a bit.
"What are you doing?" she yelled, confused. Drago went back in a bit so he could answer her. "Just get me close enough so I can get on that van! I'll get him to stop!" he shouted. Jade grimly agreed and sped up.
Drago went on the hood far enough out of Jade's driving view and when they were barely close enough, he jumped. On the back of the van, he climbed up to the roof so swiftly that it was amazing.
Jade watched him dodge several gun shots as the Tom shot at him from inside the van. The teen was forced to punch a hole through the top of the van near the back and then he went inside. To Jade's relief, she hear police sirens following after them. 'Finally!' she thought and kept up the chase.
Inside the van, the girls screamed when Drago tore open the hole and dropped in. They scrambled away, frightened by the sight of him. He ignored them and rushed to the front.
He tore away the metal mesh that led to the front of the van. The Tom was surprised by this and tried to fight the teen off as they fought for control of the van.
"Stop the f-ing van!" Drago roared, grabbing the wheel and shoving the Tom against the door. The cat man fought back and punched the teen in the face again, making him fall back in with the girls.
Angrily, he recoiled in an instant, going back to the front and smashing the cat man's face through the windshield. Then they hit metal light pole head-on.
The Tom flew out and landed several feet away, unconscious from the impact. But Drago was whacked back by force from the van running into the pole. He was slammed into the back doors, making them open. He fell outside on the street and sat up, groaning.
The van caught on fire moments later, but the girls inside were too paralyzed with fear and pain to move. Most of them couldn't leave since they were badly hurt from the crash.
Also, they feared to leave the van since Drago and the Tom were out there, but then if they stayed, they would be burned alive. Drago growled in disgust at hearing their pitiful crying and screaming. He went back into the van and told them to move it.
"Are you stupid? Get out of here!" he yelled, but they couldn't since most were too injured to leave. The unscathed ones were too frightened to do anything. They just curled up around their knees and cried.
In annoyance, he began to take them out. Jade arrived and parked down the street away from the burning wreckage. She rushed over to the burning van and corralled the girls to safety of the car.
There was one last girl to save and Drago was gathering her up in his arms when the van's gasoline tank exploded.
"NOOO! DRAGO!!!" Jade screamed, but she couldn't get closer due to the burning inferno. She didn't know what to think or do then, but to her great relief, Drago came out of the flames as if nothing happened.
"What are you screaming for?" he asked, irritated. Jade tried to hug him, but he was too hot like the fire itself.
"I thought you were hurt or worse." she admitted. Drago rolled his eyes.
"How many times do we have to go through this? Fire is my thing, it can't hurt me. Duh!" he said. Surprisingly, the girl wasn't harmed and she seemed to be sleeping.
Jade wondered if he put a fire protection spell on her. He must have since the girl didn't look at all burned or anything like that.
Suddenly the police and Section 14 agents showed up then. The scaly teen quickly backed up and hid in the shadows. They took the Tom into custody while Captain Black came up to Jade and Drago then.
"Great work, you two! We finally have the Tom at last. Awesome work, Jade. With all that evidence at the docks, we'll have the proof we need to put Marlone behind bars for a long long time" he said, grinning.
"Glad to help, Captain." Jade said, glad they got to save some of the underage girls that night.
Plus, the streets would be a lot safer and cleaner without the Tom and illegal drugs and guns out there. Once they got the Tom to talk, they could free the other underage girls as well.
Captain Black looked at Drago, thinking at first that he was an agent since he was wearing a Section 13 uniform and it was pretty dark where they were standing at which was far away from the burning van.
The crying ten year old girl in Drago's arms could be heard since the protection spell wore off her. Black offered to take her.
"Here, my men will get this girl returned back to her parents." he said, motioning for Drago to come closer.
So he was forced to go forward into some light to release her. At the same time, a random agent came up and was about to take the girl away when they both noticed the teen.
"Drago! Freeze!" Black cried in antipathy and pulled out his gun. The random agent raced off with the girl and Black told him to get reinforcements. Drago snarled viciously at Black.
"That's a fine way to act after I'M the one who caught that stupid Tom guy!" he hissed hatefully. What ungrateful humans!
"Wait! Captain Black! Drago really helped me out just now! He was the one who stopped the Tom and a lot of Marlone's goons tonight! He saved that little girl from that flaming van AND all the other girls too! We were only able to shut down the SS operation because of him. I told you he can be a big help to us!" she said, hoping Black wouldn't try to capture Drago now.
The bald man stared at them both in disbelief. He knew Jade had begged him to let her have Drago help her on missions, but he never believed Drago would really help out for real.
"But why? Why would you help us, Drago? It doesn't make any sense." he said, trying to figure it out.
Jade went to Black and put her hand on his arm holding the gun. "I'm helping him reform for the better, Captain Black. He can be our ally against Marlone and other crime lords. Please." she said, fretting.
Just then, the other agent brought reinforcements and they all aimed their weapons at Drago. Black ignored what Jade had said and went back into capture mode.
"You're surrounded, Drago! Give yourself up!" Captain Black shouted, aiming his gun at the now boiling teen.
"Like h-ll I will!" Drago growled, holding up his right claw as it burst into flames. Jade waved arms about, trying to get them all to stop.
"Back down! Do not fire! Stop!" she cried, going in front of Drago to ensure they wouldn't fire. Captain Black was flabbergasted.
Was Jim really telling the truth about Jade afterall? Was she really going soft on the enemy? And why was that demon wearing a Section 13 uniform? It just didn't make any sense.
"I'm sorry, Jade. But I'm the higher power here." Captain Black said, quickly going up to her and roughly yanking her away from Drago. The teen watched her go, his eyes held a strange emotion that Jade couldn't figure out. Was he mad at her?
"They have to obey my commands." Black said, dragging her to safety. "Men, fire!" he said, aiming his gun and about to pull the trigger. Struggling not to kill them all, Drago prepared himself for a quick escape.
"NO!" Jade cried, pushing Black as he fired his gun and causing him to miss. The bald man stared at her in shock.
"Jade!" he yelled, clearly upset by her actions. What was wrong with her?
While they were distracted, Drago slammed his fiery fist down to his feet and an explosion of fire whooshed up around him, shrouding him in flames.
The squad began shooting at him then, but it was already too late. He had taken off with his dragon speed and was long gone in seconds.
When Black realized the teen had escaped, he ordered his men to fan out and search for him. When they were alone, he blamed Jade for Drago's successful flight.
"You let him get away!" he shouted, getting angry. Jade blinked back her tears.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I-I, uh...was trying to make sure you wouldn't get attacked by him. I mean, he's bullet-proof... Your guns wouldn't have done any good." she said, trying to cover up the real reason why she wouldn't let Captain Black and his men arrest Drago.
"I appreciate your concern for my safety, Jade. But when I'm trying to arrest someone, let me. Ok? Otherwise, they get away just like Drago did now. We can't afford to have him loose on the streets." Captain Black said in a very upset voice.
"I know. I know... I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." Jade whispered, unable to hold back her painful tears. She almost lost Drago just now to the law, it shook her up badly.
She couldn't believe how much it bothered her, it was downright awful. Also, it was embarrassing too since Captain Black was right there and witnessed her actually breaking the law by saving Drago from capture.
"Jade... Why are you acting like this? You've always been very hard on criminals... So why did you try to stop me from arresting Drago? It was almost like..." Black paused as something dawned on him. "Like...you were protecting him."
Jade cried harder, shaking. She covered her face with her hands. Captain Black went closer to her and touched her shoulder.
"There's more to this, isn't there?" he asked, now piecing together Jim's vague hints about Jade being fond of Drago. He never said it directly.
But he did drop some hints here and there discreetly when Black reprimanded Jim before. Jade nodded her head, weeping still. Captain Black put his hands on both of Jade's shoulders as he stood behind her and shook his head.
"You...care for him... Don't you?" he asked slowly, his voice solemn and serious.
Jade turned around and hid her teary face into her boss' chest. She sobbed uncontrollably and Black took that as his answer. He held her, comforting her.
"Shh, it's alright Jade. It's alright." he said, stroking her head and backside. He hugged her tightly, trying calm her furious crying. He felt like a father figure to her because he knew her ever since she was a child.
He seen her grow up over the years and she used to joke often by calling him 'Dad'. She was like family to him. She would always be family to him.
"I understand now. Shh, stop crying. Everything's alright." he said, pulling out his cel phone. He called his lead agent and told him to call off the search for Drago. Jade heard this and looked up at Black in surprised relief.
"It's not like they'll find him anyway, right? If that dragon can hide this long, I doubt we'll catch him tonight." Black said with a smile. Jade's sad worried tears turned into happy joyful ones.
"Oh, thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she cried, jumping up to throw her arms around his neck in an ecstatic hug. She was unbelievably grateful to Black for making that call.
If they caught him, he most likely would get the death sentence for all his crimes. She couldn't live without Drago, she felt as if he was the air she needed to breathe so she could stay alive. That was how much she loved him.
"You're welcome. But remember Jade, I can't make this a habit. We still have to catch Drago regardless and take him to trial. I'll try to make sure he doesn't get the death sentence, that's the best I can do. You understand, right?" he said, hoping that she would.
Jade sighed hard, feeling as if this emotional rollercoaster ride would never end. "I do, but I don't think anyone can catch him without getting killed, you know?" she said.
"You seem to be very close to him. You can catch him easily." Captain Black pointed out, but then let out his own hard sigh after seeing the sorrowful look on her face.
"I know. I know... <sigh> You can't do it. You love him. Ugh!" Black groaned in frustration. "Jade, this poses a real problem for us." he said, repressed. He should fire Jade for siding with a dangerous murderer, but he just couldn't.
Now he wasn't doing his job too, just like Jade, because of emotions. Though, he did say he wasn't going to yank her position out from under her too. And Jade was the only one right for her job currently.
"I should fire you for aiding the enemy, but...I won't." Black said, surprising Jade. She looked at him puzzled, but she felt grateful since she loved her job and career. She never wanted to lose her job, ever.
He gave her a fatherly look of caring. "I know you, Jade. I've seen how you've never given your heart out to just any guy... I can't count how many you've ignored, one after another without a second thought. So, I can tell that you really truly love Drago. It's just that...I can't understand it."
Jade pulled away from Black and hugged herself. "Ch, hardly anyone does." she said bitterly, wiping her eyes and cheeks. Black put his hand on her shoulder and made her look at him.
"You can't blame them. I mean, Drago's not exactly the kindest person in the world. You must see something special about him, I've never seen you act up so much over a guy before." he said, seriously.
"I got to know him, Captain Black. I learned so much about him and I've seen the compassion he hides deep within. He's not just all demon, he's half human too!" Jade said, revealing the truth about Drago's breed.
"He's what?" Black asked in a strange confused tone. "How can he be human at all? He's all green and scaly and he breathes fire."
"I've met his mother. She's a wonderful powerful woman. Drago's half human because he has a human mother. It's just Shendu is his father and we all know what Shendu is." Jade said, feeling weird to be telling Captain Black all this. But it was comforting just the same.
"Are you sure Drago's mom is really human? I mean, it could be a trick made by them all together." Captain Black said, curious and sickened at the same time. How could a real human woman fall for a demon monster like Shendu? It didn't make any sense, it just wasn't rational.
"She is human, I can tell. Drago has good inside him and I'm trying to help him by making that goodness grow. His demon blood gives him a really hard time being good, so he's conflicted often. But I won't give up on him." Jade said.
She had more to say. She explained a bit more about how Drago's human side wants to do good, but his evil demon side won't let him and hurts him.
"He's been brainwashed by Shendu to think being good and nice is a human weakness. He hates any type of weakness and that's why he's bad. It's all Shendu's fault, he trained him to be like a terrible monster. But he isn't really! He saved my life more than once and I know he loves me back." she said, waiting for Captain Black to tell her she was nuts or wrong, but he did neither.
"From what you're saying, it sounds like Drago is a man trapped in a battle of good and evil inside himself. And he's not to be blamed for his actions... I'm sorry Jade, but Drago isn't a mindless puppet for his father. He likes hurting and killing, you even said he told you that. So, I can't really believe he's going to change. I'm sorry." Captain Black said, shaking his head.
Jade bit her lip as she felt hot tears well up in her eyes. She didn't want to cry again, but she couldn't help it. Didn't anyone have faith that her love was strong enough to change Drago? Why??
"Also... What happened to Drake? He called me to come here and when I get here, he's nowhere." Black asked.
"I..." Jade began, but then Drake appeared, but he looked tired. Like he was out of breath from running hard. Captain Black noticed him right away.
"Drake! What happened to you? Where have you been?" Black asked. Drake leaned on his knees, gasping for air. Jade couldn't believe that Drago would come back like this as Drake. What was he up to?
"I was going after Drago, but he got away. I'm sorry that I couldn't catch him, Captain Black." Drake said, acting perfectly as the devoted secret agent. Black patted his shoulder.
"It's alright, Drake. I called off the search for Drago anyway. We'll get him next time." Black said. "I hope so. He doesn't deserve to be on the streets, especially at night. Who knows what that monster will do next." Drake said in a convincing tone.
Jade was flabbergasted. Drago's acting skills were unbelievably perfect. She decided to play along since there was no way she would reveal the truth about who Drake really was.
Besides, Drago might be testing her now. She had to prove to him that she could be trusted no matter what.
"He's not a monster, Drake!" Jade said, going to him and winked when she was sure Captain Black wasn't looking.
"We can use his help against the bad guys. He was superb tonight. We caught the Tom and shut down the SS operation because of him. A monster can't do good things like that."
The happy fond look in his eyes told her that he was pleased. Captain Black had something to say then.
"Jade... Drago's dangerous. Unpredictable! We can't trust someone like him working for us. Don't you get it? He could snap at any moment during a battle and kill everyone. Even you, accidentally or not. He has to be put away in jail where he can't harm anyone. Why won't you understand this?" Black asked, seeing where Jim was coming from now.
"Drago will never kill me!" she shot back to Black. Then she looked at Drake fondly. "He told me so..."
"Jade... A killer's word has no worth." Black said irritably. He decided to say something else to convince Jade when he saw her angrily looking away from him.
"Ok, let's say he won't kill you. But what's to stop him from killing others? Nothing! Not you or anyone, he does whatever he wants and he has the power to do it. He's NOT to be trusted." Black said.
"I have to agree, Jade. Captain Black is right. You can't stop Drago from killing... You should forget about him! Why can't you stay with me? I really like you, Jade. I love you, don't you even care?" Drake yelled, putting on a good believable show.
Captain Black watched, hoping Jade would come to her senses. He had remembered her saying many good things about Drake before and how much she liked him. So why did she love Drago all of a sudden?
Maybe she was under a spell from Drago! Drago must have put weird ideas and info into her head to make her think she loved him and knew him, whatever. Black was slowly being convinced that had to be it.
Jade stared at Drake, unsure how to react to this. "I do care about you, Drake..." she said, letting him hold her close. "Then come to me! Whatever hold Drago has on you, I will free you from it..." he said, smiling strangely since his back was to Captain Black so he couldn't see his sneaky expressions.
He chanted some fake incantations and signaled for Jade to act as if she was really freed from a holding spell. "Oh! Uh, thank you, Drake! My mind is uh, clear and everything now. I'm free from Drago's evil hold. Thanks for saving me!" Jade said, hugging Drake. She couldn't wait to talk to him in private about all this!
"I knew it! I knew you were under some kind of spell from Drago." Captain Black said, going up closer to them. "Good work, Drake. I'm still rusty with magic and spells, but whatever you did really helped Jade. Glad to have you back, kiddo."
"Glad to be back, Sir!" Jade said, saluting. "I was noticing a slow strange change in Jade, but I didn't want to believe it at first. Otherwise I would have reversed the brainwashing spell ahead of time." Drake said. Black seemed satisfied with this.
"I'm just happy we have you on the force, Drake. I'll be expecting full reports on the Flash Bang gang soon. They also have to be taken down before they go underground and disappear again. My men will send the Tom to Section 13 so he can be interrogated. Make him tell you where we can find Marlone. I'm counting on you guys to bring in that scumbag." Black said.
"We'll be ready." Jade said, smiling. This meant Drake could come back into Section 13! Apparently Jim didn't tell anyone about Drake being Drago, so maybe it would be ok to bring him back to Section 13 to do work again. It seemed like Black expected it even.
She trusted Drago would behave there so he could go to work with her again. But when Jim got well again, how well would either of them behave when seeing each other in the halls...?
