J2: The Deception
Jade was often on edge at work now that Jim was able to get around Section 13 on crutches. He recovered from Drago's slashing attacks and he tried to get back to his duties as second-in-command.
When he discovered that Drake aka Drago was back in Section 13, he didn't react in a way Jade thought he would. He said nothing and almost seemed to accept it, at first.
But soon, she found out that he was just hiding his enraged feelings about it all. He expressed them to Jade only when they were alone. He first confronted her when Drago was out on a mission trying to hunt down Marlone who went into deep hiding after the SS operation episode.
Jade was by herself in the break room until Jim entered on his crutches. She worried if she wasn't friendly and kind to him, he would become more insane and evil. Plus, she still wanted to be his friend. So she went to help him sit and put his crutches aside.
The VERY angry look in his eyes made her back away a bit and she dropped the suck-up act.
"Did Drake-go put a spell on Captain Black so he could get back in here?" Jim asked in a weird dangerous tone.
"What do you mean?" Jade asked, not liking where this was heading.
"Quit it, Jade. You and I both know who Drake really is. I should have known he would do anything to get back in here. That's why I'm packing my lunches from now on." he said, disgustedly.
"Jim, please. Don't tell anyone... Like you did to Tohru..." she said, ready to pick a bone with him. Drago told her how he was sure Jim had told Tohru about him being Drake. Jade agreed since this seemed to be the only way Jackie, Uncle, and Tohru found out.
"I had to!" Jim shot back, not caring to hide that any longer. "I mean, you act as if I'M the bad guy for trying to save you from a monster! How can you be like this? I love you, Jade." Jim said in a tone that made Jade feel guilty. She tried to see from his point-of-view then since it was useless trying to make him see hers.
"I appreciate that you want to save me, Jim. But I don't need any saving. And I'm sorry. I do like you, a lot actually. I just love him. Please understand." she said, trying to touch his face to get him to look at her. He was glaring hatefully at the table and pushed her hand away.
"Don't touch me! I'll never understand that lie you enjoy living in! I can't and I won't! You should be with me! I'm human, not a monster like...him! I couldn't live with myself if you get killed by that beast..." Jim sounded like he was struggling not to cry then. Jade bit her lip, feeling a tidal wave of heavy worry wash over her.
How could she get him to believe her? She didn't want him to really flip-out and tell everyone at Section 13 the truth about Drake being Drago.
Maybe she could phrase her words in a certain way to make Jim think she was the one in control. Really, really in control, so he wouldn't worry nor blow any whistles on her. Soon the sentences began to form and she spoke them out loud.
"I won't get killed by him. Actually, I've got him totally charmed, he would never harm me now. He's almost like my slave..." Jade said, watching Jim as he looked at her strangely.
"Oh, yeah right. Sure, Jade. You have him charmed like the snake he is." He paused to change his expression, willing to ponder this notion.
"Are you serious? Did you put spells on him or what?" Jim asked, wondering if this could be true. She might be safe from his claws, but still loving him was mind-boggling. And that was something Jim had to change.
"Oh sure. I told you, I have him totally under my control. I know what I'm doing here. It was easy to charm him, afterall he's just a dumb beast, right?" Jade said, talking in a language more understandable to Jim.
He laughed, making Jade feel very relieved. Getting on his good side would be her first step to healing his ruined emotions and helping him become more stable.
Then she could finally get through to him that she was still his friend, not his enemy, and that she cared about him very much.
"Yes he is. A stupid scaly ugly green monster." Jim laughed again and Jade nervously laughed with him. "Uh, whatever." she said, then lowered her voice. "Anyway, Jim, please don't tell anyone about Drake being you know who. Ok?"
He grabbed her and held her to himself. "Only if you give me good enough reasons to..." he said in a deep luring tone. Their faces were only inches away.
Believing a kiss would free her from whatever false love spells Drago placed on her, Jim boldly kissed Jade desperately. When she made no moves to push away from him, he intensified his kiss into passionate ones.
She knew shouldn't allow him kiss her like this, but she thought maybe if she did, she could get on his better side with more ease. Plus, if she never knew Drago, she would most likely be with Jim. He ended their kiss so he could speak.
"Let me undo the spells Drago has on you Jade, so we can be together..." Jim whispered, hugging her close. She closed her eyes and hugged him back.
"Jim, please understand. I'm not under any spells from him. I love him." she said. Jim gave her a confused irritable look. "But...the way you kissed me made me believe you lov-..."
Jade pressed her fingers to his lips. "I care for you a lot, Jimmy. I told you that before. I-I..." She hesitated to tell him about Hsi Wu, her first crush and love. But maybe if she did, she might make better sense to him.
"What Jade? Just tell me."
"Well, back when we were in school - way before you came into town - I met this boy named Seymour... He listened to all my stories about my adventures with Uncle Jackie and we had a lot of fun together... He was really fun to be around and he never said I was crazy or if I was lying about my stories. But then later I found out that he was really a demon. His real name was Hsi Wu and he's Shendu's brother... Drago's uncle..."
Jade watched Jim's face the entire time and he seemed to believe what she was saying. "And?" Jim asked, not liking this. Jade sighed hard and continued.
"I really, really, REALLY liked Seymour... Hsi Wu, but he tricked me. He was never my friend, but even so, he left me with these feelings- a yearning for a significant other. Someone I could talk to and have butt-kicking fun together. That feeling became pretty unbearable at times." Jade said as Jim grew more resentful to this tale.
Why couldn't she see that HE was the one she could talk to and have crime-busting fun together with? Jade continued on with her story.
"And it only grew stronger as I was growing up and then when I met Drago... He helped fill in the hole Hsi Wu left in me and I feel as if I got Seymour back in Drago..."
Seeing the twisted look of revulsion on Jim's face caused Jade to stand up and walk away a bit.
"I know, I know. It's weird and crazy... But that's how I feel..." she said.
"Jade..." Jim said, shaking his head. "After hearing all that, I KNOW you've GOT to be under a spell now. Maybe several! I can undo them for you, just let me try!"
She went back to him and took his hands into hers. "I don't know. Maybe I do have a spell on me from Hsi Wu. You can try help me if it'll make you feel any better."
She knew if she did have any leftover spells caused by Hsi Wu, only Uncle could remove them. But after that blow-out she had at Uncle's shop, there was no way he'd help her now.
Maybe Jim would feel better if she let him take a look and do some spell reversing himself. That might soften him up enough so she could get it through to him that she was going to be staying with Drago.
Jim's eyes shone with hope. "I can help free you from their evil hold. Then you can make a better, more clear decision to who you want to spend the rest of your life with."
Jade nodded, willing to do almost anything to get Jim to not be upset and hateful at her anymore. She had to be buddy-buddy with him so he wouldn't be so against her and maybe he'd even give up on dark chi magic too.
"Alright, but don't do any black magic stuff. I want to be cured right, not be hexed all over again. I'll stop by your house later tonight. Is eight o'clock ok?" Jade asked, letting him stroke the tops of her hands with his thumbs.
At this point, Jim would have agreed to almost anything to be with Jade alone again. "Fine. I'll do that. Anything for you, my Jade. Anything..."
As Jade went home, she found it odd that Drago didn't come back at Section 13. She worried about him, but then feared something. He would know she was with Jim by the smells and get the wrong idea right away.
So, she rushed home and immediately washed herself off. Putting on some comfortable clothes, she went downstairs to relax her stressed out mind by napping on the couch before she had to go over to Jim's place.
To her shock and surprise, Drago was waiting for her at the bottom of the steps. "Oh, hi, Drago! I didn't know you were here already. Did you find Marlone?"
"No..." Drago said, his tone restrained. Jade immediately knew something was up, just by hearing his voice. She was instantly fearful. Maybe he could smell Jim on her even though she had showered. What if these smells didn't wash off?
"Dad warned me to never trust you humans..." Drago growled under his breath in such a low voice that Jade didn't understand him. But her fear intensified several notches thanks to his vicious tone.
"What?" she asked. She backed up against the wall beside the stairs as he approached her. "Why so nervous?" he hissed, narrowing his eyes angrily. Jade swallowed hard. 'He knows!' she thought to herself.
"Well, I, uh..." she squeaked, as a cold sweat broke out on her. She shivered, staring into his furious eyes, but she couldn't look away.
"I saw you with Jim, Jade..." Drago growled in his true demonic voice. "And I heard how you told him about you charming me into being your slave... Your stupid dumb beast...being charmed like the snake he is..."
She couldn't reply to any of that since it was true. Those words had been said. She couldn't justify any of it to him though. He wouldn't understand any better than Jim could about her loving him. Especially not now when he was this mad.
"How could you? How could you?" Drago snarled, raising his flaming left claw. "Is this pay back for me tricking you before?! Huh? Is it?! HUH?"
Jade dodged his fiery punch and went behind her couch. He followed her in a second, growling angrily. She figured she had better say something to help him calm down, though she wasn't sure telling him anything would calm him now.
"I was only trying to get him to not blow the whistle on you being Drake! That's all! Please Drago, calm down!" she cried, fearing him like she had before. But she had to keep a clear head if she didn't want to end up as lunchmeat.
"F-cking LIES! Admit it! You still like him! Just like how you still love Hsi Wu!" Drago snarled, both his claws burning now. Jade knew she would be toasty ashes if he used his fire power on her.
"No! No, I love YOU, Drago!" she tried again and had to jump aside when he swiped at her. "Only because I'm related to Hsi Wu! That really means you love him more than me! You lied to me! LIED!!!"
Jade took a flying leap and kicked him directly in the face, making him stumble backwards into her table. She rushed at him and wrapped her arms around him.
"I love you more, Drago. I swear it! I'd refuse Hsi Wu even if he threatened to kill me! Please, forgive my stupid careless words I said to Jim back at work. I didn't mean them like how you think!" she said, not caring what happened to her now. She just wanted to get Drago to understand that she did love him and she didn't betray him. She had to keep his trust no matter what!
"Dad told me to kill any and all traitorous slaves..." Drago rumbled, extinguishing his flaming claws and arched them over her back as if he was going to rip her spine out.
"But...my heart tells me to have mercy..." he said, his demon side thoroughly disgusted with his behavior. His arched claws ceased stabbing her back and she felt his warm fingers and palms stroking her.
She hugged him as he embraced her back, then pulled away to slap his face. "You jerk! Why do you have to get so crazy like that? You could have killed me accidentally! I told you, you can trust me! I love you more than anyone in this world! Don't let your anger or anything else tell you otherwise!..."
Jade kissed him powerfully, passionately dabbing her lips over his and neck. He was silent mostly, not showing much pleasure and that worried her.
"You don't believe me, do you? You can trust me, Drago. Really. I'd never betray you. Never." she said, caressing his face lovingly.
Drago gave her a sad look that was underlined with hatred. "Look at what you've done to me, Jade..." he said in a upset voice that was mixed three other tones. "You've weakened me into being a sentimental fool. My love for you could be leading me down a path to my capture and death, but I wouldn't care because I love you so much. Curse you for making me so f-ing weak...!"
"You're not weak, Drago! Being in love and having compassion doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're strong! I wish you would understand that part." Jade said, holding him close. Slowly, his arms went around her and he embraced her lovingly. He hugged her as if she was his life force keeping him alive.
"I do understand that part, Jade..." he whispered, still holding her tightly. "It's just half of me won't..." He placed a sleeping spell on her then. She had plans on seeing Jim at eight o'clock to be unhexed for leftover spells.
If that fool found a way to remove his mark on her, she would be ripe for the picking by other demons. He would not allow that to ever happen!
Jade fell asleep instantly, so she went limp in his arms. He put her on the couch and covered her with a blanket. He bent down so he could kiss her forehead. He brushed the bangs out of her face with a loving look in his eyes for her.
"I won't let you see that idiot alone again, Jade..." Drago said in a low heavy voice. "He will never take you away from me... Never..." The teen got to his feet and left her house to go pay Jimmy a little visit.
Meechi was surprised how much fun she was having with a teenaged boy like Michael. He made sure she was safe wherever she went around the city and she was beginning to see him as a second son. She asked him about his parents then since he seemed to have plenty of free time on his hands.
"Michael, you told me a lot of your friends, but what about your parents?" she asked. They were eating sherbet as they sat on a concrete ledge that held up a metal barred fence. He shrugged, acting strange and unhappy.
"My mom died when she gave birth to me and my dad blames me for her death, so I ran away from home. No big deal though. I found Ice and Fist, so they're my new family. They're the brothers I never had, yo." he said. Meechi put a caring hand on his. He gave her a appreciative look, then had a question for her.
"What's the deal with you and Drago's pop? I've seen the dude and he's wicked huge... How did he..-you, er, um...get it on?" Cobra felt weird asking, but he was curious.
Meechi sighed tiredly. "It's a long story... I was tricked into believing Shendu loved and cared for me. He gave me wealth and what I thought was his love. Eventually, I was madly in love for him. He only wanted to use me to create Drago, our son. Otherwise, he would have killed me when I first met him. I begged for my life, though I wished I hadn't..."
She explained more about how she was tormented by Shendu all the years she lived with him and Cobra grew more angry. How could that monster hurt such a beautiful lady like Meechi? What an evil beast Shendu was!
In an act of comfort and caring, Cobra hugged Meechi. His puppy love tricked him into thinking he really loved this woman and he had to protect her no matter what. He pulled away to face her once more and was infatuated with the sight of her more so.
Before Meechi could stop him, he kissed her on the mouth passionately. She pushed him off and saw the upset look on his face due to her rightful rejection. She felt so sad for him, he didn't know what true love was just yet.
He looked away in shame and embarrassment. "I'm sorry..." he said, turning his head away more so she couldn't see the embarrassed tears burning in his tightly shut eyes.
Meechi shook her head and stood up so she could hug him like a mother would. "No, Michael. I'm sorry." she said, holding him close. "You never got to know your mother... Neither did I." She stroked his black spiky hair, knowing how it was to grow up without a mother.
"I share your pain. I understand. You're looking for the love only a mother can give, but you think it's the kind lovers share. It's not. I can try and help ease your suffering." she said, comforting him. Cobra let his tears flow free as he cried silently into her blouse.
"Please don't get confused on what real love is, my young friend." Meechi said, taking his face into her hands. She made him look at her, but he kept his eyes closed in sorrow.
"Many get tricked into believing lust is love. I was one of them, but not anymore. My eyes are opened to the truth and yours must be too. Drago knows real love even, though there are different types- it's never to be confused with lust just the same."
Cobra welcomed her embrace by hugging her back. She let him go and they both stood up. "You'll find the right girl someday, Michael. Don't worry. She's out there waiting for you." Meechi said, looking straight into his eyes. He grinned gently, but he wished he knew where this perfect girl for him was at right now. He didn't want to wait.
"I hope so, I just wished I knew where she was right now though... I can't stand waiting." Cobra said, his impatience showing. Meechi smiled fondly like the mother she was.
"Just be patient. You'll find her by not looking." she said, patting his shoulder as she walked past him. It was getting dark then, so Meechi decided it was time to go. "I would like to go home now, Michael. But you're welcomed to stay for dinner."
He nodded, feeling better. "I would like that, thanks." he said, following her. As they walked down the same dangerous alleys before, they heard cries of distress of someone being attacked.
They went to investigate and saw two thugs were beating up on a young teenaged girl. They stole her purse and were trying to rape her. Her shirt was torn and her lip was bleeding.
Meechi watched Cobra immediately fly into action, chasing off the thugs after kicking their butts. Unfortunately, Cobra got stabbed in the shoulder duing the fight.
Meechi rushed to him and went to work healing him with magic. It wasn't perfect since she only knew weak spells. Shendu never taught her any stronger spells, only the bare minimum.
"Are you alright?" she asked as she and the teen girl helped Cobra to his feet. "I'm ok. I think." he said, then winced in pain. "Ahh! Geez, man that really hurts!"
"Thank you for helping me." the girl said then. "My name is Rose. I was walking home after my shift at work when those creeps jumped me. I don't know what I would have done if you didn't come along."
Cobra nodded, wishing he could talk more to this girl, but he was still bleeding. Thankfully it wasn't life threatening anymore since Meechi healed him a little. He observed how pretty this girl looked.
She was a red-head and a sprinkling of freckles on her fair skin. She was skinny and tall, her curves were kind to her. Although she was not as blown-out sexy and curvy as Meechi, Cobra didn't care or expect her to be anything like Drago's mother.
It was obvious Meechi was extremely rare and finding another similar to her was unlikely. But this red-head girl was pretty hot anyway. Cobra soon found himself wondering if she had a boyfriend...
"No problem, yo! Ack! Ow, oww!" he cried, holding his shoulder and bending over in pain. Rose went to him and tried to stop him from falling forward.
"Let me help you. I'm studying to be a nurse." she said, looking at him. Meechi smiled when she saw how their eyes met then. Looks like Cobra didn't have to wait long for his lady love afterall...
It didn't take Drago long to get to Jim's home, since he found out where it was by hacking into Section 13's employee database. He slipped into the house through an open window near the back door. He was inside a kitchen and a large cauldron was sitting in a corner to the left.
Immediately he could sense that Jim was close by somewhere. The smell of dark magic filled the air, but it was pretty weak. Nothing hardcore like Drago learned growing up with his father.
As if Jim knew someone was in his house, he came into the kitchen hobbling on crutches, carrying his barracuda fish weapon in his right hand. Instantly, he was hostile and pointed the fish at Drago while leaning on his left crutch.
"Foul beast! What are you doing in my house? Get out!" Jim shouted. Drago scoffed at him. "Just shut up for a second, you fool." He walked up to him and showed him his opal ruby ring.
"See this? This is an engagement ring that Jade gave to me. I'm sure by now you've seen the diamond ring on her hand, that's my ring she wears! We're getting married and I'd appreciate it if you'd get a f-ing clue and leave us the h-ll alone!" the fiery teen growled, closing his outstretched claw into a threatening fist.
Jim was devastated and extremely furious by this news. He had seen Jade's beautiful diamond ring. Was it really an engagement ring from that monster? He thought it was a gift from Jackie since he did send Jade fancy rings from time to time from his findings.
And this opal ring, was it too a ring that Jade had given to Drago? Was she just playing him for a fool to use as a puppet for Drago in the end? No! She would never accept a monster's ring willingly! She was under spells!
"Liar! She doesn't want to marry you!" Jim cried, but Drago promptly punched him in the gut. He fell backwards to the floor, his crutches falling noisily. He cried out in pain as he fell.
"IDIOT! Ask her yourself if you don't believe me! Man! Just go find some other girl, geez! Jade is mine, get it through your thick skull, as-hole!" Drago yelled, growling. He really had it with this stupid human.
He bent down and his right claw latched onto Jim's throat. "You know, I've had enough of you... Enough of you trying to steal Jade away from me. This is it, human! Tonight...you DIE!" He added to the crushing power of his claw with another to Jim's neck, intensifying the pain.
The man grabbed the teen's arms in attempts to pry him off, but he was too strong. Jim wheezed and gasped for air as Drago squeezed his throat harder, enjoying his peril. It was revenge he had waited so long for...
The fiery teen happily let his sharp nails dig their way into Jim's tender flesh of his neck, the blood adding bright color to his scaly fingers. Jim chanted a spell to save himself, but he was not saying it exactly right and summoning a different spell without realizing it.
Swirls of purple and gray hues floated around them and Drago noticed them in annoyance. He didn't know what this spell meant for him, so he decided to end Jim's life immediately. But before he could dive his claws all the way through his neck to decapitate him, a bright flash of energy exploded from them and it sent them both flying.
Moments later, Jim opened his eyes and shook his head. He felt strange and filled with some odd power, so utterly strong that he could hardly believe it. He was trying to summon an army of Iso's, but instead a bright light of energy came to his aid.
He stood up and couldn't get over how well he could see. He always could see well, but not this well. He brought his hands up to his face to rub his eyes when he saw that they were green! There was blood splattered on them and they were actually claws, not just hands...
He looked down at himself and saw he was much taller. He looked up a bit to see...himself sprawled out on the living room floor. He walked over and saw that it was his body! Was he dead?
No, this was much worse than that... He rushed over to a large mirror hanging in the living room and shakily forced himself to take a look.
Piercing garnet red colored eyes stared back at him in fright. His chest rose and fell as he took in the sight...of himself being inside Drago's body!
Disturbed to be seeing through the eyes of his archenemy, Jim backed away from the mirror. "No, this can't be...!" Jim said, but heard Drago's voice instead. He grabbed his throat and swallowed hard. What happened to his voice?
"What's going on here?" he asked, confused. Again he heard Drago's voice saying his words. He looked down at his body still laying on the living room carpeted floor. Soon, Jim figured out what must have happened.
Jim was in Drago's body and Drago was inside Jim's body. Somehow when he summoned that spell, he said it incorrectly since he was having the life squeezed out of him. Thus creating a new spell accidentally that put their minds into the wrong bodies.
Suddenly, Jim got an idea. Now that he was in Drago's body, he could finally experience and enjoy Jade's love. He could protect her from this monster as well by being him and locking up his original body some place else. The real monster would be trapped in his human body, unable to hurt or bother anyone again!
Something glittered in Jim's eye and he looked down at his claw to see the opal ruby ring. So, Jade was planning to marry Drago, eh? Jim sure didn't mind it now...
